A day-long discussion of CS Education will take place on Wednesday, May 11, beginning at 9 AM in room 205 at Northwestern’s Norris Center. invited speakers will include: Mike Horn, Ian Horswill, David Weintrop, as well as Kathi Fisler (WPI), Colleen Lewis (Harvey Mudd) and Matthias Felleisen (NEU). Then on Thursday, May 12 at 3:30 PM in Tech Room L440, Prof. Matthias Felleisen, Trustee Professor at the College of CIS at Northeastern University will also be delivering a research talk, as part of the CS Division Seminar Series: entitled, "Types for Untyped Languages." Matthias is an established leader in PL (one of the first to crack the full abstraction problem, is the original author of a proof technique that approximately 1 in 3 papers in PL uses, the list goes on and on) who also "dabbles" in education (winner of the ACM Karlstrom award for his CS1 pedagogy).
