EECS Ph.D. Student Tim Rambo attended the 12th International Conference on Quantum Communication, Measurement, and Computing (QCMC), held November 2-6 at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in Hefei, Anhui province, China.
QCMC is one of the premier conferences in the field of quantum information science and technology and featured attendees from all over the world, where Rambo presented his poster, titled, "Implementing a high-rate single-photon source using ultra-low-loss all-optical switching."

Research Focus for NASA: Development of microwave kinetic inductance single-photon detector. Simulation and lithographic fabrication of prototype.
Research Focus for CPCC: Entangled photon sources, single photon sources, intermingling of polarization and temporal mode photonic entanglement, nonlinear optical properties in biological materials, ultra-low-loss photonic routing, joint-detection receivers for improving photon information efficiency in photon starved communications.
The International Conference on Quantum Communication, Measurement and Computing was established in 1990 to encourage and bring together scientists and engineers working in the interdisciplinary field of quantum information science and technology. To date, eleven such meetings have been held and the twelfth took place in 2014 in Hefei/China. Suggested topics included, but were not limited to: 1.Quantum Cryptography and Quantum Communications 2.Quantum Measurement and Quantum Metrology 3.Quantum Computing and Quantum Information Theory 4.Quantum Information Processing 5.Quantum Simulations 6.Quantum Control 7.Foundations of Quantum Physics.
