  Microprocessor System Design (CE346) Public Demos

  EVENT DETAILS

  Microprocessor System Design (CE346) is holding a public demo session and everyone is welcome! Demos are on Tuesday, December 5th from 11:00-5:00 pm in Mudd 3514.

  The students will be demonstrating their hardware projects made using the Microbit, a microcontroller platform programmable in C (and other languages). Throughout the quarter students have learned about programming embedded devices and the peripherals that they provide to enable interactions with the real world. Final projects are open to any topic that the students are interested in, as long as it integrates sensing and actuation.

  Projects made by student teams include:
  * Modified games like Chess, Air Hockey, and Operation
  * Fuzzy "pets" that interact with you
  * Unique control interfaces for robots and computers
  * Home security systems, plant monitoring systems, and more

  CS Teaching Demonstration: Introduction to Assembly

  Bio

  Dietrich is a graduating PhD student from Cornell, focusing on programming languages and compilers. They are excited about teaching core CS classes, exploring topics in software testing and compilers, and developing materials and tools to help with student learning. They enjoy drawing, rock climbing, and board games.

  Teaching Demo Description

  This teaching demonstration will simulate a class where students are learning assembly for the first time, specifically using RISC-V. Students will learn about assembly and machine code, instruction sets and registers, and spend some time with a practical demo of a RISC-V interpreter. The lecture is designed to work for a 100-200-person classroom, and questions throughout are encouraged.
