Northwestern CS Inclusiveness Statement

Inclusion is a core value of the Northwestern University Department of Computer Science. Our department is diverse in race, ethnicity, nationality, sex, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, ability/disability, age, socioeconomic origin, academic experience, veteran status, and many more dimensions than we can list here. We celebrate and value differences within our community and strive to create an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds. We seek to broaden participation in computing and in our department not only because it is a social good, but because it makes our department and our field better. Diverse communities have diverse points of view, which lead to insights that let us advance and solve problems in ways that any one group would not be able to do. This improves research, education, and society.
