COMP_SCI 496: Special Topics in Game AI - City-Scale Character Simulation

Quarter Offered

Spring : MWF 4-4:50 ; Horswill

Prerequisites

Permission by Instructor

Description

James Ryan’s recent work on emergent narrative has introduced the approach of overgenerate and curate, in which a large-scale simulation of hundreds or thousands of characters is run, and the resulting log of events is then mined for narratively interesting plots.  This will be a studio course in which we will work in groups to build large scale simulations based on themes of the group’s choosing, such as High School life or Welcome to NightVale style conspiracy plots.

Registration is by permission of the instructor; send email to ian@northwestern.edu
