McCormick Faculty Named Among Global ‘Highly Cited Researchers’ for 2021

The list identifies researchers who showed significant influence by publishing highly cited papers

Seventeen Northwestern Engineering faculty members were named in the Highly Cited Researchers 2021 List by Clarivate Analytics. The annual list identifies researchers who demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade. 

Highly cited McCormick School of Engineering faculty include:

  • Vinayak P. Dravid, Abraham Harris Professor of Materials Science and Engineering
  • Roozbeh Ghaffari, research associate professor of biomedical engineering
  • Mark C. Hersam, Walter P. Murphy Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and (by courtesy) professor of electrical and computer engineering
  • Yonggang Y. Huang, Jan and Marcia Achenbach Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Civil and Environmental Engineering and (by courtesy) professor of materials science and engineering
  • Shana Kelley, professor of biomedical engineering and chemistry (previously at the University of Toronto)
  • Tobin J. Marks, Vladimir N. Ipatieff Professor of Catalytic Chemistry and Chemical and Biological Engineering, and (by courtesy) professor of materials science and engineering
  • Chad A. Mirkin, George B. Rathmann Professor of Chemistry, professor of materials science and engineering, and (by courtesy) professor chemical and biological engineering, and biomedical engineering

Placement on the list is recognized as a significant achievement. The researchers’ names are drawn from publications that rank in the top 1 percent by citations for field and publication year in Clarivate’s Web of Science online citation index.
