Mechanical Engineering Faculty and Students Earn Major Honors
Faculty and students received national and international awards recognizing research, leadership, and innovation.
Department of Mechanical Engineering faculty and students have been recognized with a wide range of national and international honors. The awards reflect achievements in research, teaching, leadership, innovation, and service, as well as competitive fellowships supporting emerging scholars and founders.
The recognitions below include faculty elected to prestigious academies, recipients of major disciplinary medals and fellowships, and undergraduate and graduate students earning top national awards.
FACULTY AWARDS AND HONORS
Horacio Espinosa was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Athens.
Elizabeth Gerber received a Mira Fellowship, a highly selective program that supports innovators and social-impact founders with coaching, funding connections, and a collaborative community to help turn ambitious ideas into actionable projects.
A proposal by Professor Junsoo Kim was selected for a 2025 Haythornthwaite Foundation Research Initiation grant.
The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences announced the inaugural recipients of the John Rogers/Yonggang Huang Medal: Warren Oliver of KLA Corporation and George Pharr of Texas A&M University.
