VIEW ALL COURSE TIMES AND SESSIONS

Description

Over the past decades, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) have experienced unprecedented growth. Meanwhile, advancements in sensing capabilities and computation resources have transformed modern manufacturing systems. These developments create new opportunities for AI-driven solutions to tackle manufacturing challenges. This course offers a comprehensive and accessible introduction to popular ML and AI techniques in manufacturing. At the start of the semester, we will define a data-driven manufacturing challenge, such as process monitoring, predictive modeling, quality control, or design optimization. Throughout the course, we will explore a broad spectrum of ML and AI tools, including,

  • Descriptive methods that extract high-level insights to analyze and visualize data patterns
  • Predictive frameworks that adapt to the modality and complexity of data
  • Transfer learning algorithms that integrate knowledge from different manufacturing sources
  • Foundational models in vision and natural language relevant to manufacturing

The course focuses on both statistical development and practical engineering applications. By the end of the semester, students will have developed the skills necessary to tackle complex manufacturing challenges from a data analytics perspective. Students will also be ready to contribute to cutting-edge AI for manufacturing research.
