Ethan received his BS in Computer Science in 2018 from Northwestern University. During his undergrad, Ethan was the software lead of Northwestern's solar car team, writing software to interface between the car's CAN network and a series of Arduinos, as well as the vehicle telemetry software. His mechatronics and embedded software experience with the solar car team led him to the MSR program, where he hopes to pursue a lifelong interest in robotics while gaining significant experience in its software applications. Ethan is especially interested in the use of robotics in scientific discovery (i.e., underwater and space exploration).

A long-time midwesterner, Ethan is originally from Korea and fluent in the language. He is an avid tennis and baseball fan, history aficionado, and gamer. Ethan is also well traveled, with destinations including Iceland and Egypt. One day, he hopes to visit Antarctica.
