Gravity Spy Publication Wins Prestigious Spanish Society of Statistics and Operations Research Award

Professor Aggelos K. Katsaggelos and co-authors of the paper “Scalable Variational Gaussian Processes for Crowdsourcing: Glitch Detection in LIGO” (IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, March 2022) earned the “Best Applied Contribution in Statistics” award from the Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria Foundation (BBVA).

The BBVA is designed to advance the goals of Spanish researchers working in statistics and operations research, recognize excellence in the two disciplines, and promote the field to society at large.
