A contingent of EECS Students & Faculty have presented their research at SPIE Photonics West 2015, held February 10-12 in San Francisco, CA.

Due to the significant impact of his research for semiconductor laser cooling, EECS Ph.D. Student Iman Hassani Nia was awarded the prestigious SPIE Travel Grant to present his work, titled, "Photoluminescence study of suspended MQW structures for laser refrigeration purposes" on behalf of the laser cooling society.

SPIE Photonics West is the #1 laser, photonics, and biomedical optics conference in the world, with 20,000 attendees, two exhibitions, 1,250 exhibiting companies, and 4,700 papers.
