Welcome to the Electrical Engineering Division

Electrical engineering is a broad discipline that is integral to many important societal application areas, including energy, information processing, and healthcare.

The electrical engineering division in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Northwestern University provides students with the tools to impact these areas in a variety of ways, such as developing new electronic devices, designing novel information processing algorithms, or integrating hardware and software to create cutting-edge systems.

At both the graduate and undergraduate levels, students in the division explore their passions in electronic circuits, solid-state electronics, electromagnetics, optics, information systems, control, and signal processing. Every day, our students strengthen their intellectual curiosity by learning new concepts, identifying new directions, and adapting to respond to the needs of a rapidly changing world.
