Research Interests

Prof. Jewett’s work focuses on computational design for applications in the built environment. His lab has explored how optimization methods can be used to improve material utilization in buildings-scale structures. He is especially interested in how these optimization frameworks can be modified for the constraints of construction materials and building practices. In addition to computational work, his lab carries out experiments on physical specimen to evaluate real-world performance of new structures. Prof. Jewett is also interested in how novel digital fabrication methods and materials can be used in civil engineering applications.
