Biography

As a student, Tom gravitated towards professors that stressed the fundamentals like design literacy, composition, and planning. He consistently sought opportunities to intersect with educators and mentors who would challenge him, and who would provide key connections as he transitioned into the profession. This challenging work, and the subsequent relationships Tom built, paid off. Today, he is well-versed in client needs and is an expert in translating these into beautiful designs. Considering the client’s goals, unique program, and the project site, Tom develops solutions that connect architecture with environmental and cultural contexts. Tom loves to travel and seeks adventure in both urban and rural settings. Historical places like Machu Picchu, Angkor Wat and other spectacular landforms capture his interest. His passion for buildings is tempered by a greater appreciation for design created by ancient cultures and the forces of nature.
