Biography
Katherine Brichacek is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Cook Family Writing Program. Dr. Brichacek teaches Writing and Speaking in Business, Design Thinking and Communication, and Capstone I in the Master of Science in Project Management Program. She utilizes specifications grading, student self-assessment, and tenets of Universal Design for Learning to develop equitable and inclusive learning environments.
Brichacek received her PhD in Philosophy from Loyola University Chicago. Prior to joining the Cook Family Writing Program, she taught argumentative writing at the University of Chicago as well as philosophy at Loyola University Chicago and Harold Washington College. After working at her undergraduate alma mater’s writing center, Brichacek went on to help found the Centre for Writing and Communication at Ashoka University in Sonipat, India.
Dr. Brichacek’s research is predominantly at the intersection of critical philosophy of race and Hannah Arendt’s political philosophy. Since teaching DTC, Dr. Brichacek has expanded her research area to include Ethics in Design and Engineering.
