Dean's Seminar Series Welcomes Procter & Gamble Design Officer Phil Duncan

The McCormick School of Engineering Dean’s Seminar Series welcomes its first guest of the 2011-12 year: Phil Duncan, global design officer for the Procter & Gamble Company.

Duncan will present a lecture, “Purpose Inspired Innovation, by Design,” at 3:30 p.m. Friday, October 14 in the ITW classroom at the Ford Motor Company Engineering Design Center at Northwestern University.

In his role at Procter & Gamble, Duncan oversees design for the largest consumer products company in the world. Duncan began his career at Procter & Gamble in brand management, where he created new-to-market product innovations from concept development all the way through to in-store executions for major hair care brands. He left Procter & Gamble to work for Landor Associates, a major branding and design consultancy, and built the Cincinnati office into the largest office in the Landor network. Before returning to Procter & Gamble, Duncan was president of Landor Europe and Middle East. 

Duncan attended the University of Kentucky, where he received a BA in design and advertising. He also attended the Ohio State University Fisher College of Business, where he received his MBA.

Duncan is a member of the Design Management Institute, the Industrial Design Society of America, and the American Institute of Graphic Arts.
