George Nejmeh Named McCormick STAR Award Winner

George Nejmeh, program facilitator for McCormick’s Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) program, was recently named the spring STAR award winner at a McCormick staff recognition event.

The STAR award, which stands for Staff Team Appreciation and Recognition award, is given quarterly to a McCormick staff member who demonstrates leadership and goes above and beyond regular job duties. Staff and faculty can nominate potential award winners, and a selection committee recommends a finalist to the dean for selection.

Nejmeh was nominated for his willingness to take on additional responsibilities, including advising students, coordinating a speaker series, and running information sessions. As a result of his efforts, eight new students enrolled in the program.

“Although you have consistently gone above and beyond expectations during your twelve years with MSIT, you are specifically being recognized for your recent ability to maintain successful program operations with minimal supervision,” states the award. “During spring quarter, you did an exemplary job in all regards, and you should be proud that you contributed to bringing in new students.”
