Andrea Zakrzewski Named McCormick STAR Award Winner

Andrea Zakrzewski with Dean Julio M. Ottino

Andrea Zakrzewski, associate director in McCormick’s Office of Research Administration, was recently granted the winter 2012 STAR award at a McCormick staff recognition event.

The STAR award, which stands for Staff Team Appreciation and Recognition award, is given quarterly to a McCormick staff member who demonstrates leadership and goes above and beyond regular job duties. Staff and faculty can nominate potential award winners, and a selection committee recommends a finalist to the dean for selection.

AZakrzewski was recognized for extraordinary efforts during a period of staff turnover in the research administration office. While continuing her previous duties in her role as research administrator for the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Zakrzewski also took on her new responsibilities as interim associate director of the research administration team.

“As part of the McCormick Research Administration team, your expertise and dedication have enhanced the team’s ability to meet requests with excellent customer service,” the award states. “The volume of work that you have been able to accomplish is recognized as extraordinary and deserving of this award. Throughout this period, you maintained your composure, remained approachable and delivered high quality work as the EECS research administrator.”
