Entrepreneurship Conference to Explore the ‘Next Frontiers’

Ben Parr and Norbert Riedel will deliver keynote speeches.

Last year's Entrepreneur@NU conference focused on the theme, 'Pivot to Success.' This year's conference will explore, 'Next Frontiers.'

Venture capitalist Ben Parr will headline this year’s Entrepreneur@NU, Northwestern University’s fourth annual entrepreneurship conference. 

Aimed at students, alumni, faculty, business leaders, and budding entrepreneurs, this year’s conference will focus on the theme “Next Frontiers,” exploring what’s up-and-coming in the world of entrepreneurship. 

SwipeSense's Yuri Malina (left) and Sinode Systems' Nishit Mehta (right) at the 2013 Entrepreneur@NU conference.Hosted by Northwestern’s Farley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 25 at Norris University Center, 1999 Campus Drive, on the Evanston campus. The event is open to the public, but advance registration is required.

Parr (WCAS ’08) is cofounder and managing partner of DominateFund, a seed-stage capital fund. He previously served as co-editor and editor-at-large for Mashable.

Norbert Riedel, president and CEO of neuropharmaceutical company Naurex, Inc. will deliver the conference’s second keynote speech. Riedel formerly was corporate vice president and chief science and innovation officer at Baxter International. Naurex commercializes novel therapeutics developed by Joseph Moskal, research professor of biomedical engineering at Northwestern.

The Entrepreneur@NU conference aims to encourage mechanisms for promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in all areas of life. The event will include panels on women in entrepreneurship, corporate/venture intrapreneurship, students/researchers becoming entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurial marketing.

In addition to the Farley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the conference is sponsored by McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science, Kellogg School of Management, the Kellogg Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative, Northwestern Law School, Kapnick Business Institutions Program, NUCATS, EPIC, Northwestern Alumni Association, University Career Services, and the Innovations and New Ventures Office.
