Undergraduate Study
- Flexible curriculum allows in-depth application of mathematics in areas like engineering, economics, physics, mathematics, or social sciences
- Many students combine their applied-math major with another major that reflects their additional interests
- Opportunities for undergraduate research in a wide area of topics
- Class size in the major courses is 20 to 30 students
Graduate Study
- Approximately 40 PhD and 10-15 MS graduate students in applied math
- Highly interdisciplinary graduate research with world-class faculty members
- Research is very applied; most students collaborate with experimentalists in science and engineering
- All doctorate candidate graduate students are supported by fellowships, research assistantships, and teaching assistantships
- Can complete an MS degree in as little as one academic year with study plans tailored to individual students’ interests
- Typically five years to complete a PhD (beyond BS)
