Biography

Patrick McCarter is a Professor of Practice at Northwestern University within the Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences ("IEMS") faculty at the McCormick School of Engineering.  
He also currently serves as an Advisory Director at the Carlyle group.  Before shifting into this advisory role, Patrick was the Managing Director and Head of Global Technology at Carlyle.  Prior to becoming Global Head of Tech in 2007, he was a Partner and Managing Director in Carlyle's Flagship Carlyle Partners funds.  

Since joining Carlyle in 2001, Mr. McCarter has led or played a key role in several investments, including Hexaware, Exiger, Abrigo, NEOGOV, Jagex, Tribute Technology, Unison, ZoomInfo, Ampere Computing, Cohesity (formerly Veritas), CommScope, PK, Hirevue, Open Link Financial, Open Solutions, Freescale Semiconductor, Jazz Semiconductor, Sippican, and CPU Technology.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. McCarter worked at Morgan Stanley in New York, focusing on financial institutions.
Mr. McCarter serves as a director on the boards of publicly traded Hexaware and privately held YipitDATA, Cohesity, Tribute Technologies, Hirevue, and Saama Technologies. He is also a member of Northwestern University’s McCormick School of Engineering Advisory Council.

Mr. McCarter earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Industrial Engineering and Economics from Northwestern University.
