Biography

Alice Zhao is a data science instructor and author of the book, SQL Pocket Guide, 4th Edition (O'Reilly).

She has created and taught numerous courses in Python, SQL, and R for Maven Analytics, O'Reilly, Metis, and more. She has 15+ years of experience in the data field, working as a technology consultant at Accenture, analyst at Redfin, data scientist at Cars.com, and data science consultant at A Dash of Data.

Her specialties include Natural Language Processing, Unsupervised Learning, and Data Storytelling. She has the most popular Natural Language Processing video on YouTube with 1.2M views. In her spare time, she creates data visualizations on fun topics and pop culture. Her analysis of text messages throughout relationships was featured on the Today Show.

Alice was a member of the inaugural MLDS cohort (formerly known as MSiA) that graduated in December 2013.
