Biography
Joel Sensenig is the Assistant Director of Public Works in Lake County, Illinois, and a retired U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps Officer with a 20 year proven record of progressive leadership, facilities management and achieving mission and project schedule objectives. Organized, trained and led diverse organizations domestically and internationally; planned complex projects, and developed and executed multi-million dollar facility budgets.
Joel’s career with the Navy began with a project management role in Puerto Rico providing quality assurance, estimating and negotiations on diverse projects from air craft hangars to environmental facilities and coordinating with private industry and Department of Defense construction units (US Navy Seabees) to execute projects.
He has spent 10 years leading organizations while providing facilities management and construction oversight for multi-site locations overseas in Puerto Rico, Europe and Bahrain as well as domestically in Great Lakes, IL. Additionally, he task organized teams, planned and executed construction projects in Afghanistan and countries in West Africa, supporting Department of Defense and State Department objectives.
