Biography
Afshan Barshan has over 27 years of construction experience spanning healthcare and multifamily residential sectors on two continents. He was a founding member of the Lean Construction Institute Chicago Community of Practice (CoP) and serves on the core committee. During his tenure as the Chair of our CoP (2019-20), we was able to
accomplish his goal of forming Student CoP’s by introducing it in three universities (Northwestern University,
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Illinois State University). As Senior Vice President at Skender, one of
the nation’s largest building contractors, he oversees the company’s multifamily business unit, which manages
construction projects for developers of affordable and market-rate housing, senior living and apartments.
