EECS Ph.D. Student Tim Rambo Presents Research at 12th International Conference on Quantum Communication, Measurement, & Computing

EECS Ph.D. Student Tim Rambo attended the 12th International Conference on Quantum Communication, Measurement, and Computing (QCMC).

EECS Ph.D. Student Tim Rambo attended the 12th International Conference on Quantum Communication, Measurement, and Computing (QCMC), held November 2-6 at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in Hefei, Anhui province, China.

QCMC is one of the premier conferences in the field of quantum information science and technology and featured attendees from all over the world, where Rambo presented his poster, titled, "Implementing a high-rate single-photon source using ultra-low-loss all-optical switching."

Rambo is curently a NASA Space Technology Research Fello, in addition to being a member of the Center for Photonic Communication and Computing (CPCC), advised by Prof. Prem Kumar and Prof. Yuping Huang.

Research Focus for NASA: Development of microwave kinetic inductance single-photon detector. Simulation and lithographic fabrication of prototype.

Research Focus for CPCC: Entangled photon sources, single photon sources, intermingling of polarization and temporal mode photonic entanglement, nonlinear optical properties in biological materials, ultra-low-loss photonic routing, joint-detection receivers for improving photon information efficiency in photon starved communications.
