Assistant Dean and Senior Director of Engineering Career Development
McCormick’s Engineering Career Development (ECD) office is a full-service career advising and professional development center that works in partnership with Northwestern Career Advancement. Erik J. Friedman, assistant dean and senior director ECD, oversees career support for all degree programs as well as employer relations and student/alumni counseling. ECD serves all current McCormick undergraduate and graduate students, as well as alumni at every stage of their professional lives, including providing opportunities for cooperative education, internships, service learning, research experience, career skills coursework, and full-time employment.
Before joining Northwestern in 2023, Erik served as associate dean of career development and industry relations at Columbia College. He brings 30 years of experience in higher education career services, with prior roles at DePaul University and the Illinois Institute of Technology.
