Non-MSIT Elective Courses

Please make an appointment to meet with your MSIT advisor during this MSIT advising week to plan your Spring quarter and possibly your Fall quarter (for 4qtr full-time students) course schedule and to gather the necessary approval emails and/or signatures. Please don’t delay, as many ECE and CS classes fill quickly!

IEMS Courses

IEMS has a “Waitlist” website that students should utilize to request a permission number for available IEMS courses. Please note that IEMS-300 level courses are reserved for IEMS undergrad students first, then undergrads in general, and finally to grad students. The website is geared more towards IEMS undergrads, so not all information is applicable to MSIT students.

Kellogg

The list of spring 2021 classes available to non-Kellogg students is now available. Kellogg's registration survey will open on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 9 am and will close on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 4 pm. No exceptions can be made. Kellogg will process class registration requests on a first come, first served basis starting the week of March 22 (registrations can take place up until March 29, 2021). Please check the Non-Kellogg Student Registration page for updates.

To request registration for Kellogg courses:
1. Check the Non-Kellogg student registration website to find out what classes are available.
2. Fill out MSIT's Kellogg Course Choice google form as soon as possible.
3. MSIT staff will complete and sign the Kellogg Registration form based on your google form submission. We will then give you the form which you need to submit your official request to Kellogg. Submitting your form on time will give the MSIT staff enough time to complete and return your registration form before registration opens.
4. When non-Kellogg student registration opens on March 15 you can start submitting your signed requests. Kellogg's registration is first-come, first-served so we recommend submitting your requests as soon as possible after the registration opens.

Kellogg will start registering students on a first-come, first-served basis. Check your classes in CAESAR periodically to find out if you got into the classes of your choice. If you did, email MSIT to let us know what class(es) you are in. If you got into a Kellogg class you did not want or you change your mind about a Kellogg class you did get, contact the Kellogg Registrar and cc MSIT in your email asking to be dropped from a course.

Please note that the billing cycle is such that those registered by the 10th of the month will get a bill due the 1st of the following month, and those billed after the 10th of the month will get a bill in the middle of the following month due the 1st of the month after their bill arrives. MSIT will be registering MSIT students for all spring 2021 courses starting March 11, 2020 and students will receive an electronic tuition invoice in mid-April 2021 with a May 1, 2021 due date. If a student would like to be registered earlier and receive an April 1, 2021 tuition invoice due date, please indicate that in the spring 2021 registration Google Form. Please note that some non-MSIT course registrations may require an earlier registration (e.g. NUvention courses) or a later registration (e.g. Kellogg courses) that could create an early or late bill, respectively.

Tuition Invoices

Students will receive an email notification at your Northwestern email address when each new bill is available online. Then, to view and optionally print your bill, log-in to CAESAR with a Northwestern NetID and password to locate the bill (CAESAR > For Students > Financial Services > View My E-Bill & E-Payment). The option of making your payments online or by mail will continue to be your choice.

CTA UPass

In a typical quarter all MSIT full-time students (those who are registered for 3 courses or more) will automatically have $100 “activity fee” added to their tuition bill each quarter. Full-time students will receive a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) bus/train ID pass that provides unlimited rides on the CTA buses and trains during enrollment as a full-time student. If you have questions on the activity fee for the spring 2021 quarter please contact MSIT.

Student Gym

All full and part-time students have free access to the NU state-of-the-art Henry Crown Sports Pavilion, which is located in the same building as the MSIT classroom space. Please check the gym website for updates.
