Suzie Wu graduated from Bentley University in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics-Finance. During her undergraduate studies, she worked as a research assistant at National Sun Yat-sen University, conducting exploratory data analysis and visualization to showcase metrics of the public transportation system of her hometown, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. Through building fair and bias-aware models, she provided insights into social problems like optimizing infrastructure systems. Additionally, she worked as a research assistant at Harvard Medical School, where she performed data preprocessing and conducted genome-wide association studies using PLINK, a bioinformatics software, to identify the specific genotype correlated with coronary artery disease. The interdisciplinary research experiences expanded her knowledge of statistical techniques and how their applications can shift paradigms beyond their own fields when coupled with domain knowledge. Upon graduating from Bentley University, she joined SAS as an Associate Technical Consultant, where she was responsible for the implementation of the SAS solution for IFRS17 for leading life insurance companies in Taiwan. As the bridge between clients and the solution, she validated and tested key solution features against client requirements. Sha also created financial dashboards and reports based on client requirements and the IFRS standard using SAS Visual Analytics. Suzie is excited to join the MLDS program at Northwestern University to further strengthen her skillset in data science and analytics. She looks forward to applying her skillset to help organizations in the public and social sector make more informed and ethical decisions.
