Practicum & Capstone Sponsorship

MLDS students engage in two applied projects provided directly from industry, which allow them to apply their cutting-edge coursework to practical problems and challenges in data science. All project groups are supported by a faculty advisor with relevant technical background.

While the decision to make a project a Practicum or Capstone is generally a conversation between MLDS and the project sponsor, in general Practicum projects are best suited for organizations with nascent or developing data science infrastructure while Capstone projects are most beneficial for organizations with robust, established data science teams.
