Xenia Vrettakou earned her bachelor’s degree from Boston University in 2021, she graduated with magna cum laude and honors in Economics. Xenia’s engagement in analytics began during her undergraduate years, where she conducted research on the impact of a second Covid-19 wave on the global stock market during her internship at the Bank of Greece, which was later published. Additionally, she conducted research for her honors thesis on the influence of Covid-19 on the price of gold, which further developed her analytical skills. Upon obtaining her bachelor’s degree with double honors, Xenia sought employment as an analyst for an economic consulting company, that specialized in intellectual property litigation. From her work experience, she gained various skills like working with large datasets, and diverse sets of data, while resolving complex problems regarding the valuation of patents and drafting reports that explained the team’s analysis. As an analyst, Xenia conducted analysis in R, SAS, and STATA. Immersed in data analysis, she experienced the need to become more proficient in this domain by mastering skills, such as machine learning and quantitative reasoning by applying to Northwestern’s MLDS program. Xenia aspires through her MLDS degree, to gain the necessary experience to ethically handle, visualize and interpret data with the aim of positively impacting businesses and people. Xenia is excited to go back to school and continue her academic journey by learning more sophisticated techniques in machine learning and data science alongside her peers and faculty. Beyond her graduation from Northwestern’s program, she looks forward to rejoining the workforce in industries such as tech, healthcare, and consulting.
