Jiayue Tian graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she completed various advanced courses, gaining expertise in data visualization, machine learning, SQL, and programming languages such as R, Python, Matlab, Java and C/C++. With necessary technical and solid theoretical background, she honed quantitative and statistical skills by applying them to hands-on sociological research as a part of the Data Science for Social Good project. She investigated and measured the potential biases in China’s medical diagnosis system, mainly focusing on the huge gaps in the allocation of health practitioners between rural and urban regions. She also analyzed the national medical remission data to identify highly re-admissive candidates. Jiayue also participated in the pilot program of Guangyu Health Cloud platform, where she adopted blockchain features into the health care and management system. She trained the machine to study large-scale historical databases, leading to the creation of an accurate medical information system that would provide more precise symptom identification. In addition, during her health informatics intern experience at investment & data division in Zhiyu Medical Instruments Co. Ltd., Jiayue executed SQL queries to analyze the hospital patients remission rates to develop and automate complex reports for clinic management employing over millions of patients data for past 15 years. With a great range of project experiences, Jiayue has discovered her passion for data science and is eager to further education in MLDS program. She aims to strengthen her professional portfolios through a variety of problem-solving and case advisory work.
