During my undergraduate studies at the University of Washington, I took multivariable calculus and programming courses, where I established a strong foundation for modeling mathematical analyses using SQL, Python, and R. These experiences improved my programming skills, honed my logical thinking, and made me more resilient to challenges. My academic success paid off, as more and more often my parents asked for my insights into their businesses. Once, I stepped into their office and was shocked to see the sheer volume of data that had been manually calculated and recorded by employees. When I dove deeper into the contents, I realized that there were simpler, more efficient ways to store and analyze this data. I created a database that greatly improved their efficiency and reduced search and calculation time by 20 hours per week. It was a pivotal moment when I decided to pursue a career in the dynamic field of data analytics. I worked as an intern at Accenture, where I developed an algorithm that predicted ESG market trends and risks for a financial company using Python's Pandas and Numpy libraries. Working within our team, I analyzed historical market data, conducted logistic regression, and leveraged crucial indicators such as greenhouse gas emissions to spot investment opportunities and manage risks. Independently, I maintained clear documentation and communication with my team and the client to ensure that everyone was on the same page and had a thorough understanding of the data story behind the algorithm. This resulted in an additional 10% profit for the company, exceeding its targeted return. I started my own research capstone project, where I formed a team with thirteen other students from different backgrounds. In three months, our goal was to build an open-source data repository, a medical analysis model, and a website to show the impact of long-term COVID on individuals. On March 10th, we successfully launched our repository on GitHub. It brings me incomparable pleasure and pride to create a model from scratch because there are limitless possibilities for what can be created and the freedom to explore new ideas and approaches. It was rewarding to see how our work could potentially make a positive impact on the Latino community in Eastern Washington.
