Zhiwei Gu graduated from University of California, Berkeley with double majored in Statistics and Data Science. With an extensive academic background, Zhiwei possesses profound knowledge in statistics, modeling, and programming languages such as Python, SQL, and R. Her undergraduate studies have served as a solid foundation, significantly contributing to her competencies in data science while consolidating her practical experience. Drawing from her comprehensive academic background in data science, Zhiwei has enhanced her technical skills through a variety of research and internship experiences, employing technological methods to address social problems. Zhiwei immersed herself in research on environmental education accessibility, utilizing social network analysis with Python. She processed survey data into visually captivating images and conducted in-depth analysis, which offered valuable insights and recommendations to county offices. Additionally, Zhiwei’s internship at Beam Benefits also showcased the versatility of data analytics in generating meaningful business insights. Leveraging natural language processing techniques, she analyzed call data to gain a deeper comprehension of user requests and optimize the company's data collection methods. These data-driven experiences highlighted her ability to harness the power of data to drive more informed decision-making. Now, as an aspiring student enrolled in the MSiA program at Northwestern University, Zhiwei is eager to further strengthen her analysis skills and business acumen through courses and projects. She cannot wait to connect with fellow students and faculty members. Through this program, Zhiwei strive to become a data scientist capable of leveraging data to generate substantial business value.
