Affiliated Centers and Institutes

Faculty members in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering participate in several interdisciplinary centers and institutes, many of which are led by faculty members from the department.

Lab Safety

Safety is paramount in our labs. Everyone who uses a lab in the department must read our lab safety guide, and then complete a short quiz in order to protect themselves and others.

3D Printing Laboratory

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, has established a large scale 3D printing facility capable of the additive manufacturing of structures made from a variety of materials including sulfur-based concrete, a non-aqueous material developed at NU and being used to explore habitat construction using indigenous materials on Mars.
