CEE Search for an Assistant Chair

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Northwestern University seeks to hire an Assistant Chair. The successful candidate will serve as a member of our non-tenure track teaching faculty and will typically teach an equivalent of four courses (10 week quarter) per year. The candidate will also assist in administrative duties for the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Responsibilities include advising and recruiting students, curriculum development, course and TA scheduling, and developing assessments of student learning.

Applicants must have completed a PhD degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field, have a demonstrated excellence in teaching and show a strong interest in advancing CEE at Northwestern University and in the professional domain. Special attention will be given to those candidates with experience in the structural, architecture and construction areas. Professional Engineer licensure is preferred but not required. Candidates will be considered at the Assistant, Associate or Full level depending on experience. This is a multi-year, renewable position.
