Northwestern ASCE Steel Bridge Goes to Nationals

 The Northwestern University ASCE Steel Bridge Team has been invited to participate at the National Student Steel Bridge Competition in Clemson, South Carolina on May 25th & 26th.  The team was led by Senior Civil Engineering Student, Galen Reed.  This is the second year that NU ASCE participated in the regional steel bridge competition after eight years of absence. 

2012 also marked the first time NU ASCE entered the regional Concrete Canoe competition after many years of absence.  The Canoe finished 7th overall among 15 teams.  The team was led by Senior Civil Engineering Student, Hannah Iezzoni.  In addition, NU students also competed in other events: technical paper presented by Adrienne Masterton, surveying (Members: Galen Reed, Maya Stuhlbarg, and Abby Christman), mystery events, and geotechnical engineering (Members: Hannah Iezzoni, Michael Chen, and George Kostov).  The geotech team finished third in the competition. 

NU ASCE is holding an open house to showcase their Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge.  The event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. in Tech A230 at 2145 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL.  Please RSVP by May 4th to hiezzoni@u.northwestern.edu
