People / Students / Class of 2027

Le Zhang earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. During his undergraduate studies, he developed a strong foundation in statistical modeling, machine learning, and deep learning. His coursework and projects also gave him practical experience with Python, R, SQL, and machine learning methods.
Before joining the MLDS program, Le gained experience in both financial data analysis and AI research. At Guotai Haitong Securities, he worked on financial data collection, factor analysis, and strategy backtesting. He also interned at an AI research center co-founded with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where he explored machine learning applications in protein-ligand binding prediction. These experiences helped him better understand how data science can support decision-making and scientific research.
Le is excited to join Northwestern University’s MS in Machine Learning and Data Science program, where he hopes to strengthen his technical skills and gain more hands-on experience through applied projects. He looks forward to exploring more areas of data science and machine learning, and to finding the career direction that best fits his interests and strengths.
