Teresa Xu earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from McGill University in Canada, where she built a strong foundation in statistical modeling, probability, and data analysis. During her undergraduate studies, she developed a growing interest in applying quantitative methods to solve real-world problems, which inspired her to pursue a career in data science.
Before joining Northwestern, Teresa worked as a Data Scientist at Scotiabank in Toronto. In her role, she designed and automated enterprise reporting solutions, developed interactive dashboards for financial planning and portfolio management, and leveraged analytics to support strategic decision-making. Working with large-scale business data strengthened her interest in machine learning and highlighted the potential of AI-driven solutions to improve business processes and uncover actionable insights.
At Northwestern University, Teresa looks forward to expanding her expertise in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and predictive analytics while collaborating with classmates from diverse backgrounds. Outside of academics, she enjoys traveling, discovering new restaurants and coffee shops.
