Zhiyi (Crystal) Liu graduated from New York University with a double major in Economics and Data Science. Her undergraduate studies provided her with proficiency in Python and SQL, as well as hands-on experience in building ETL pipelines, training machine learning models, and transforming unstructured data into actionable insights.
Prior to joining the MLDS program, Zhiyi interned as an Equity Research Analyst at Donghai Securities and Shenyin & Wanguo Securities Research Institute, conducting industry research across the TMT and Consumer Services & Retail sectors. She analyzed financial and operational data from annual reports and databases such as iFind and Wind, built forecasting models to support company analysis, and authored investment research reports with data-driven recommendations. At ChatSlide, Zhiyi gained AI product experience, conducting competitive research, performing user sentiment analysis using LDA topic modeling on thousands of user comments, and contributing to Generation Engine Optimization (GEO) initiatives to enhance brand visibility in AI-generated search results. At Fullgoal Fund, she applied deep learning architectures such as RNNs, GRUs, and Transformer-based models for factor modeling and return prediction. She also developed backtesting frameworks and translated model signals into trading strategies.
Through the MLDS program, Zhiyi aims to deepen her expertise in machine learning, positioning herself for a career in data science or quantitative research in finance.
