My name is Sitong Liu. I graduated from Central University of Finance and Economics and Victoria University with degrees in International Trade and Economics and Financial Risk Management. My academic and professional experiences have focused on applying quantitative methods to real-world economic and financial problems. As a quantitative research intern at BONC, I built a Python pipeline to process more than 300,000 rows of market data, developed a backtesting framework, and improved a stock-selection model through constrained portfolio optimization and signal stabilization. During my investment banking internship at Sinolink Securities, I used Python and Excel to clean and analyze over 30,000 transaction records for due diligence on a RMB 2.5 billion convertible bond issuance. I also worked as a research assistant on a labor economics project at Peking University, where I built a Monte Carlo simulation of 100,000 synthetic individuals using a dynamic Roy model to study how fertility affects women’s labor supply. At Northwestern, I hope to further strengthen my skills in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data engineering and apply them to complex problems across finance and economics.
