Graduate StudentEmail Hyejin Lee

Hyejin is pursuing an M.S. in Machine Learning and Data Science at Northwestern University, building on eight years of experience applying statistics and data science to real-world retail and consumer markets. She graduated from Ewha Womans University with a degree in Statistics, and during her studies passed the Society of Actuaries' Exam C, which sharpened her interest in bringing statistical rigor to problems that don't always fit a standardized framework.

At NielsenIQ, the global leader in retail measurement, Hyejin has worked across the full arc of CPG retail measurement in South Korea and the broader Pacific region—from building the automated systems and methodologies behind the company's panel data, to resolving complex client escalations, to leading market analysis that helped major consumer goods clients understand offline market share drivers. She has led global cross-functional initiatives such as Project Spark, which developed standardized analysis workflows spanning automated data extraction to LLM-driven interpretation for ten distinct client inquiry use-cases, and most recently drove the creation of a liquor measurement product built on crowdsourced receipt data.

At MLDS, Hyejin plans to build a stronger technical foundation in machine learning and advanced statistics, and to bring her experience applying data science under real business constraints to the program.
