Shivani Kedila graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.S. in Cognitive Science specializing in Machine Learning and Neural Computation. Her undergraduate studies centered around understanding human cognition and applying that understanding to well-designed data analytics. As a physiological data analyst, Shivani performed time-series analyses to investigate the efficiency of virtual reality as a tool to reduce physician burnout and increase individuals’ empathy and interconnectedness. This research led her to explore more applications of data analysis and machine learning in human development.
With her passion residing at the intersection of technology and education, Shivani interned as a Machine Learning Engineer at StarSpark.AI, a startup with a mission to provide personalized and accessible education to all students. She developed a streamlined data-labelling pipeline for a larger fine-tuning project to improve the quality of educational AI chatbots. At Northwestern MLDS, Shivani is excited to focus her academic journey on developing innovative data and machine learning solutions built on a foundation of human cognition.
