Will graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering with a degree in Computer Science in May 2024. During his time at MSOE, he developed a strong foundation in data science through the program’s heavy focus on machine learning and AI. For his senior capstone, he helped develop the public interface for the school’s supercomputer, nicknamed “Rosie,” building the computer vision pipeline that tracked users’ hands on a camera feed and translated it to mouse movement on the screen.
Since graduating, Will has worked at Textiles AI, a pre-seed e-commerce startup. Given the company’s small size, he has functioned as backend developer, database engineer, DevOps engineer, and machine learning engineer simultaneously. This experience has granted him valuable insight into both the engineering and business side of the data science world. It has also provided him with the opportunity to experiment on his hypotheses about prioritizing efficiency over raw power when working with AI models on a production level. Through his studies in the MLDS program, he aims to gain the knowledge and skills to expand these ideas.
Will is a Chicago native and has lived in Northbrook, IL since he was 5 years old. Outside of Textiles AI, he works as a Code Coach at theCoderSchool in Glenview and volunteers as an assistant coach for the Glenbrook North Jr. Spartans youth football program at the varsity and lightweight levels. Unsurprisingly, Will has found a way to merge his love of data science with coaching football — he handwrites play-by-play records during games, verifies them on film, and then feeds it all into a Python program to transform the play records into finalized statistics.
