Yifei Bu earned his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Data Science from New York University, where he developed a strong foundation in data analytics, business intelligence, and quantitative problem-solving. Through coursework and hands-on projects, he became interested in transforming complex, messy data into actionable insights, while gradually discovering a deeper passion for building the data infrastructure, scalable pipelines, and intelligent systems that support modern analytics and AI applications.
Prior to joining the MLDS program, Yifei gained internship experience in business intelligence and data analytics at Capgemini and Morimatsu LifeSciences. At Capgemini, he worked on financial data projects using SQL, data extraction pipelines, and Tableau dashboards to support investment monitoring and portfolio analysis. At Morimatsu LifeSciences, he used SQL, Python, and Power BI to clean and consolidate operational data, build project-tracking dashboards, and generate insights for manufacturing and resource allocation decisions.
Yifei is now pursuing his M.S. in Machine Learning and Data Science at Northwestern University, where he hopes to strengthen his skills in machine learning, backend systems, distributed data, and production-level AI. Through the MLDS program, he looks forward to deepening his technical expertise and preparing for a career in machine learning engineering, data engineering, or AI product development.
