People / Students / Class of 2027

Kevin Bai graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a double major in Data Science and Economics. During his undergraduate studies, he built a strong foundation in statistical modeling, machine learning, econometrics, and data-driven decision-making. His academic and professional interests sit at the intersection of applied AI, business strategy, healthcare analytics, and product development.
Kevin has applied quantitative and computational methods across research, product, and strategy roles. As a Product Manager Intern at Lionstale Games, he worked on product strategy, market research, user analytics, retention modeling, and revenue forecasting to support game development and fundraising initiatives. He conducted competitor analysis, built survey-based insights, analyzed user behavior, and translated data findings into actionable product and business recommendations. He also served as a Research Analyst at UC Berkeley’s Sociology Department, where he processed large-scale firm-level datasets and applied NLP techniques such as TF-IDF, sentiment analysis, and topic modeling to study corporate behavior, institutional resilience, and inequality.
More recently, Kevin has contributed to oncology clinical trial research, focusing on the use of large language models and biomedical data standardization to structure cancer treatment data. His work involved using LLM-based extraction, RxNorm and PharmGKB normalization, and recommendation-system methods to support treatment analysis for under-studied cancers. Through this research, he deepened his interest in building reliable, interpretable, and high-impact AI systems for complex real-world domains.
Now at Northwestern’s Machine Learning and Data Science program(MLDS), Kevin is excited to further develop his technical expertise in machine learning, data systems, and applied AI. He looks forward to collaborating with peers, faculty, and industry partners while continuing to explore how data science can drive better decisions across healthcare, technology, product strategy, and business innovation.
