People / Students / Class of 2027

Yash graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, where he received High Distinction and published an undergraduate thesis on solar energy pricing. At UBC he also worked as a research assistant on behavioral economics experiments. He then joined Doane Grant Thornton in Toronto as a transfer pricing consultant, where he priced intercompany transactions for multinational clients, advised them on compliance, and led the firm's AI adoption efforts, running internal trainings and working on the implementation of internal AI tools. Outside of work he builds tools for his own use, including a retrieval-augmented news agent and a self-hosted Linux server running his personal AI stack. As an MLDS student, he is looking to build formal depth in deep learning and in the engineering side of putting models into production, and stays interested in personal AI infrastructure and agentic systems.
