Evelyn Xu graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a major in Cognitive Science and a minor in Data Science Engineering. She brings a strong interdisciplinary foundation in computer science, psychology, mathematics, and statistics, and is proficient in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, MATLAB, JavaScript, and C++. Her expertise centers on building artificial neural networks and developing statistical pipelines to extract actionable business insights, which she has applied to both industry projects and tech competitions.

At UCLA, Evelyn led and contributed to multiple research projects at the intersection of AI and human behavior. Her work includes simulating social decision-making with large language models and modeling pro-social behavior using reinforcement learning and custom agents. These experiences sharpened her skills in probabilistic modeling, system simulation, research design, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Evelyn has also translated her expertise into high-impact real-world projects beyond academia. She developed a disaster risk management platform in partnership with Snowflake and conducted fintech analytics at the Bank of China. Her professional experience spans cloud architecture, high-performance computing, generative AI, and data-driven product design, blending technical precision with user-centered thinking. Now, as a student in the Machine Learning and Data Science program at Northwestern University, Evelyn is committed to pushing boundaries, driving innovation, and leveraging data to create meaningful and equitable outcomes.
