Eason Wu graduated from National Tsing Hua University in June 2024 with a Bachelor’s and Master's degree in Industrial Engineering. During his undergraduate years, Eason developed a strong foundation in data analytics, programming, and mathematical modeling, which gradually shaped his passion for data science and machine learning. His coursework and projects frequently integrated Python to solve engineering problems, and he later expanded his focus to include predictive modeling and time-series analysis through independent research.

Eason’s transition into data science began with a deep interest in human-centered technologies and smart systems. He participated in a multidisciplinary research project involving wearable sensor data, where he implemented a CNN+LSTM model to classify user activity, contributing to applications in health monitoring and behavior prediction. In his final year, he led a team project to invent a gait-based identity recognition system using pressure-sensitive tiles and IMU sensors. This innovative system could identify individuals with just a single step and earned a Gold Medal at the IIIC International Innovation & Invention Competition in October 2023.

After graduation, Eason joined WOOX as a KYC analyst intern, working on KYC/AML data pipelines and compliance-related automation. He independently built monitoring tools using Google Sheets API, GitHub Actions, n8n, Python, and JavaScript, enabling automated compliance reporting and email alerts across regions. This experience strengthened his interest in data infrastructure and automation in real-world business contexts.

Outside of work, Eason is deeply involved in building personal projects that combine automation, data analysis, and social impact. His most recent initiative is a tutoring matchmaking platform that leverages automated workflows and data analytics to pair students with the most suitable tutors. In addition, he integrated generative AI to create a free AI tutor that provides real-time educational support, aiming to reduce disparities in access to learning resources and ensure every student can receive guidance whenever they have questions.

Eason is thrilled to join Northwestern’s MLDS program to further hone his skills in statistical learning, cloud computing, and AI product development. He looks forward to collaborating with peers across disciplines and contributing to impactful practicum projects. In the long run, Eason hopes to build data-driven products that improve people’s lives, especially in the domains of education, consumer tech, and financial access. Outside of academics, he enjoys playing sports, creating YouTube Shorts, and exploring Chicago.
