Anuraj Nair graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor's in Mathematics in 2024, where he developed a strong foundation in statistical analysis, programming, and computational mathematics. During his undergraduate program, he contributed to research on the geometric properties of a family of flow polytopes, constructing a python library to compute and visualize their geometric properties, implementing algorithms to expedite this process and significantly enhancing performance. He also worked on classifying neuronal cultures based on electrophysiological data, engineering a machine learning pipeline that improved data analysis time whilst gaining hands on experience with data cleaning, feature engineering, and predictive modeling.
Beyond academia, Anuraj applied his technical skills in software engineering and data-driven projects. As a volunteer at UMB Develops, he helped develop a full stack fintech web application using React, Node.js, Express.js, and MongoDB. Alongside optimizing application performance and ensuring secure data management using AWS, he built dashboards to communicate financial insights effectively, providing functional results for clients. His experience further includes building microservices with Docker, designing API endpoints, and improving overall scalability and maintainability. These projects in academia and software engineering have strengthened his ability to translate complex data into practical outcomes and reinforced his passion in machine learning, data science, and applied computational science to address real-world matters.
As he prepares to begin this new chapter at Northwestern's MS in MLDS program, Anuraj is looking forward to exploring the depths of data science, theoretically and practically, and connecting with industry professionals and leaders. With these prior experiences serving as a firm foundation, he hopes to elevate his analytical and technical skillset to develop human centric solutions.
