Veronica Lin graduated with high honors from the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in Applied Mathematics. Originally trained in rigorous mathematical theory, Veronica cultivated a strong interest in data science and machine learning through a wide range of courses in statistics, data mining, and programming. Veronica’s academic experiences are complemented by hands-on projects and research. At Berkeley, she worked on a public mental health research project, analyzing interview and survey transcripts to uncover key themes and recurring patterns. In several programming projects, she developed a web-based investment simulator in R to model long-term outcomes of total market index fund strategies and built a geospatial model in Python to visualize restaurant ratings in Berkeley and predict user preferences. As a data analyst intern at PwC, she contributed to a back-end system that automated complex financial calculations, replacing traditional Excel workflows with Python-based solutions. She also processed large datasets and collaborated with senior analysts to enhance forecasting models. Outside of academics, Veronica enjoys swimming, bartending, playing video games, and challenging herself in chess. Now a graduate student in the MLDS program at Northwestern University, she looks forward to collaborating with peers and faculty to explore how data can drive impactful decisions. Through the program, she strives to leverage data to generate both business value and positive social impact.
